About the Makers: Learn the story behind our goods

We want to introduce you to another brand partner that exemplifies For Goodness Sake’s mission of moving the needle for social change. Meet Soko.

Founded by women for women, Soko believes that innovation can empower and create opportunities. Soko’s beautiful jewelry is handcrafted from around the world. Their artisans use natural and upcycled materials to bring extraordinary style into every design. Soko began in Kenya and has since grown to help “fashion a better world” through direct fair trade and provide equal access to economic opportunities in developing countries.

Kine is one of Soko’s artisans. He is also a father from Kibera, a poverty stricken area of Kenya. He uses bone and brass to create exceptional designs that show both contemporary and tribal styles. The care and patience he puts into every piece of jewelry he also puts into his community. Kine supports his family while striving to help support the underprivileged youth in his community as well.

Kine is not alone in the disenfranchised craft industry. Soko has over 1,000 artisans in 30 countries and has raised over $400,000 in artisan income. On average, Soko artisans quadruple their income within two months of joining. Soko helps artisans improve their livelihood by connecting them directly to consumers around the world.

Whether its bangles, earrings, statement rings or necklaces of all sizes, Soko’s jewelry will spruce up your outfit for the perfect look while you help support the future of sustainable fashion accessories worldwide.
